Reminds me more of Elmyra from Tiny Toons. She's a classic animal torturer - you should see the movie "Tiny Toons Adventures: How I Spent My Summer Vacation".

I feel the same way so when I took Rufus for a 'play date' at a friends house who has kids I was SUPER worried.
But it was so cute!! Next time I shall have to take a video of the kids with him - he seemed to really take to them and be very understanding of their interest in him, they even gave him a bath using their old baby bath (under very close supervision of course!!!)

Much simpler for me- I don't like the 2 legged variety. So they don't come in my house I second that, lol!

I have an ironclad rule...no ferrets to homes with children under 6. Regardless of how well the children have been trained, there is always the risk of an accident which can result in a dead or severely injured ferret. I go on a case-by-case policy with older children...if they are well behaved and interact properly with the ferrets, then I'll consider it if everything else is suitable.
My two kids were trained from a very young age to treat animals with kindness and respect. Nonetheless, when I was making a decision as to which breed to go with to show and breed, I decided on Basenjis rather than Papillons as I felt a toy dog was not appropriate around small childten. I did get a Papillon a few years later when the kids were older and were in better control of their impulsive behavior.

And that's just it. You can train kids and pets as much as you want. Some will take to it really well! And some, well- they simply don't have that impulse control til they are older, if they ever do get it!

I don't prefer little kids to be around the ferrets, but I don't prefer some adults to be around my ferrets. I guess it depends on the kid, and the parents with me. I have seen children do marvelously with animals, and I have seen them unsuccessful with them.

I have seen children do marvelously with animals, and I have seen them unsuccessful with them. I agree with this completely. I have met some children that appeared demon-possessed, and then I have met children that were more mature than an 80-year-old. While I can understand how some dislike homes with young children I guess I just feel it should go case-by-case because everybody's different.

Perhaps, but then you've got some who can be little angels when someone else is around, but morph into some sort of mini demon when home with mommy and daddy

I use to bring a ferret into my girlfriend's Kindergarten class once a year. (20- 25 kids in the class)
What work for us.
Kids would sit in a circle. They would have to sit Indian style. They could not get up or move around while the ferret was out.
I sat in the middle of circle and the ferret visit every kid in the class.
My girlfriend has a photography studio. When I go up to take pictures of ferrets. Her human kids want to see the ferrets. In order for ferret to visit the kids, they must be sitting down and the ferret will come visit them in the studio.
This keeps my ferret safe and also the kids.
This works for us....
