Don't ge me wrong, I love little kids. I brought 3 of the fur kids to my mothers last night. She was babysitting my 2 nieces. One is 3 and the other is 4. I couldn't take my eyes off the ferrets. "hamsters....look at the hamsters" "Brianna don't run after the ferrets" she preceeds to keep chasing them. "brianna don't pick up the ferrets" "Halle, don't jump off the bed onto the blankets" "Oh no, the hamster went under the couch" "hamster get out of the closet" "Brianna please don't chase the ferrets" The whole time jumping around and chasing ferrets. The ferrets had fun though. I was ready to pull my hair out. Needless to say, I lasted 45min, and put them in thier crate and took them home. Little kids and ferrets do not mix. IMO

I feel the exact same way! I love my niece and nephew but, I end up babysitting them all the time, preferably at their house, otherwise I spend the whole night watching the kids like hawks, or wrangling pets and kids together. The 4 year old girl is such a troublemaker and the boy is 7 and in the "I don't hear you" phase. I told my sister I have no clue how she does it. After 15 minutes or so, I'm ready to be done and send them home.

Much simpler for me- I don't like the 2 legged variety. So they don't come in my house

That's why I barricaide the entryway to the room when the ferrets are free...that way the little ones can't come in and the Fuzz can get out!

kids just need to be raised right with all sorts of animals. my daughted who is almost 3 is gentel with my 2 dogs and ferts. i do supervise the whole time and at times let the fur kids in thier own play room where all my daughter can do is watch them play in thier tubes but realy kids and animals all comes down to supervision and bounderys.

Hehe. My baby cousin took one look at my boy and freaked out, climbed onto the sofa and burst into hysterics. I don't think she likes ferrets much. But yeah, I think it can depend on the kids. Ones who are raised around ferrets will probably know to be gentler with them, at least when they're a little bit older.

I think it depends on the kid (which really depends on the parenting). My nieces and nephews know the rules when in my house. Whatever I say goes. No running, two hands when holding anything, quiet voices, etc. If they start getting out of hand, the ferrets go up.

i like the tw hands when holding anything bt yea it realy does depend on the child plus i dont have a ton of kids goin in and out of my house just my 1 child so its easyer to manage cant realy imagine 2 kids like the 1 crazy lttle hyper child i got but she loves animalsjust like me and the wife so that helps shes always trying to copy mewhen itrain the dogs and ferts

don't get me wrong...my kids have been taught and know how to properly handle the fuzz, heck my 11 year old can tell you all about them and what an obligate carnivor is....but when they are running free, that's also my kid free time!

My nieces are spoiled brats. I love them like crazy, but they don't really hear the word no alot, unless their useless father steps in. But he is the opposite too strict. Halle, the 4 year old was pretty good, just had to tell her once. She even held them and loved it. But Brianna is like that little monster on Bugs Bunny and tweety Show. "I'm gonna hug you, and squeeze you, and love you, and never let you go wittle bunny wabbit"
