I am looking for some advice on how to make covers for the levels and floors in my ferrets cage. This is the cage I have and all the levels except the very bottom floor are wire. I want to cover them so the babies arent on wire and so they dont poop on the wire (what a pain that is to clean!! ) I have 2 bins on the floor level that are litter boxes so basically almost the whole floor is their potty but sometimes one of them (Im pretty sure it Amalia) will poop on the wire levels if she feels the boxes are too dirty, even though they are still pretty clean What is a good method to make covers and to attach them so the ferrets dont pull them down to the bottom like they usually do?? lol

We covered something similar with those thick cabinet liners you can get at a home improvement store. Should be fairly cheap and thickest would be best. heard stick on tiles works well for this as well.

I made some custom shelves for their cage in NC so I used those venal tiles from loses/home depot. They sell them in singles for less then a dollar a pier and have a couple different style choices.

I'd be looking at some sort if tile or lino for it as well. Easy to clean, and you can always add bedding on top.

Something that would solve clean up would be some of that thin gauge aluminum plate or sheet. Lowes (I don't know if you have access) can cut it down or you can do it with tin snips. Most metal shops have good tin cutters too. The thin gauge edges are easy to bend over (wide jaw vise-grips work well)so they aren't sharp and you can drill holes (4 per floor) to secure them to the floor underneath with wire (approx. 0.032 gauge). (I can send you a pic of the way to twist it that won't cut, and especially won't cut if you put the pigtail underneath the wire floor.) That way you can just hose the whole cage down and scrub it well and there is no need to replace the unsticky'd linoleum tiles. The floors will last as long as the cage does too.
