so i bought some treats yesterday at our trip to the pet smart. i got now have some duck, chicken and lamb lung and beef liver. now I'm not sure if all of it is freeze dried or not, but anyway. i only feed a day of liver, and it's generally 2- 3 ounces for both my girls. but is it fine to give the liver treats as like extra liver throughout the week? or is it possible they could get too much? I'm asking cause I'm not too sure on the levels of nutrients of freeze dried things. i just tried to give them the lamb lung, and boy did it smell great. i wasn't expecting it to smell at all, it was gross. but anyway, how do you get yours to try new things? i put some ferretone on it, but I'll check if it's there in the morning

If you are going to use just a couple of tiny pieces of the dried liver during the week, I wouldn't worry too much. If, on the other hand, they are getting the equivalent of, say a 1" square piece during the week, I'd cut the fresh liver down to an ounce and a half or so. Those things hold a LOT of moisture fresh. As for treats, they either like them, or they don't. I don't worry about that.

As for trying new things, you can mix it with something they already like and see if they'll try it that way.

Since it's just a treat, give it to them as is. They shouldn't be getting treats as a staple part of the diet anyway(2-3 times a week is what I try to do), unless it's to replace some part of the diet you don't have access to, like organ meats. Fresh is always better
