Hey y'all! I'm Riley. I'm currently choosing on whether Im ready for a bit of change and responsibility in the form of two beautiful furballs. Ive wanted ferrets for years, even did all the research on them, but knew I shouldn't and couldn't get them til I had a lot more money. Now I do, and I have done extensive researching, and think Im ready to take on some furballs Of course I have a lot of questions, so i hope you guys are ready to take me on

Welcome i am Kaite!( like katey)! Heres a tip, enough money: usually about1000$ per ferret in savings, this is a very good amount in case of emergency Raw diet is the best if done correctly, but a very good kibble would be EVO or Wysong ferret food. Adrenal is the most common type of cancer, not very serious and is easily treated. Then comes insulinoma which is a tad bit harder to treat and is like diabetes sort of, for ferrets. Uncommon but horrible is lymophoma, it took my year old Rob in only four days, the estimated time if caught early is two months. Please remember, cancer is not an. " if" for ferrets, its a when. This is why it is giod to have a large savings. Please do not buy the Bandits treats, they are horrible for ferrets and have a lot of sugar. You know the basics: Welcome and. Have a good stay! Heheh If i left anything important out, please fill in for me guys!

Hi and welcome on board Please feel free to prowl the forum. Check out the sections, read threads and ask questions. No questions are considered silly or stupid. Everyone's friendly, so get involved. Information about the care of ferrets both physically and mentally has advanced by leaps and bounds and trying to stay on top of the new information can seem very daunting, but shared becomes much easier to handle. Oh, and we absolutely expect photos of any wee fuzzies you acquire. Consider it an open exchange of information ;D I hope that I will be seeing you around ciao

Thanks everybody ^_^ Candykitten: Columbia, SC. As far as I know there isn't any ferret shelters in SC. Even a ferret-specific vet is 3 hours away from me. Its actually hard to find ferrets where i live; theres only three stores that carry them, and they're between 10 to 40 minutes away.
