I have been away from the boards a while. I deployed, returned, then got into a car accident 5 months later. I'm just now at the point that I am seriously looking into raw feeding.
It's been a rough 8 months since the accident. I ended up with a Traumatic Brain Injury. Long, slow recovery. I also lost Taliesin and Koda Bear to the Bridge within two months of each other. Koda and Tally were bonded and Kodes just didn't have the heart to keep going without his best bud.
Now I have two female ferrets; Lady Tosca (Real Canadian) and Kaliyah (GFX Ferretry). I also share my home with an 8 month old flame point Siamese mix named Brigid. Brigid is quite the playmate for Kaliyah, although Tosca isn't as impressed. Tosca is 5 years, Kaliyah is 2 years.
Since my kiddos already love a freeze dried soup mix (Pingsford Porridge), I thought moving them first to one of the freeze dried raw, then introducing fresh raw might be the easiest way to go. Kaliyah ate raw at her breeder, so I think she'd probably do ok switching. Tosca and Brigid have never had raw.
So, if I moved to freeze dried raw, do I keep their regular kibbles available during the day? Are they fed raw by schedule? I know they need food available at all times. Currently, I feed high quality kibbles and try for grain free.
Totally off topic but those smileys are awesome! ;D

Hi, and welcome back! Wow, you've been through some real life changing experiences. As for the freeze dried, if you can afford it, and if they'll eat it, no reason it can't replace the kibble entirely. I would, however, give two meals of rehydrated, and maybe leave some dry to nibble on during the day. There are almost as many ways to switch a ferret as there are ferrets You can also apply for a mentor for you fuzz and your kitten. And even though this isn't the welcome board- WE NEED PICTURES!!! ;D
