I came across this forum while looking up on ferrets in the Louisville area. I sadly am not a proud ferret owner just yet. I've been wanting one of my very own for years (used to live in Cali where they're illegal) and I've finally been given the chance to have one of my very own.

It still may be a couple months before I can welcome one into my home. My boyfriend and I just moved into a new place and we're still settling in, but he promised to get me a little fuzzie after he saw how I was with one in our local pet store. My problem is trying to find a good ferret breeder. I can't do any long distance traveling and I can't seem to find any close by.

Hi, I'm Theresa and I live in Indianapolis. I recently adopted three ferrets from two different people on Craigs list. Don't forget to look for rescues in your area too.

I've tried looking into rescues. I get broken/OLD sites and elderly or ferrets with health issues. Any good rescue I find are just too far or never give their address. I would love to have a young(er) ferret that I can watch grow and develop. I've owned a wide array of pets (fish, hamsters, birds, rabbits, an iguana, cats, dogs, etc.), and thanks to my sisters hand-raised dozens of "accidental" babies.

Hi. I am also from Ky. I live in the southern part of central Ky. Im glad that you joined this forum. This forum is very helpful and the people are very knowledgeable about ferrets and ferret things. It is always good to do your research before getting a ferret. There is lots to know when it comes to the little fuzzies.

I've been doing research on ferrets since the first time I saw one in a picture book many years ago, though I am still learning new facts to this day. Research is one thing I've always done when it comes to getting a new pet (or when my sisters decide to get one on impulse...).

Hi and welcome on board. Thank you so much for doing your homework. I wish you luck on your search of the right wee one. I've always found that the right one seems to show up with the time is right (by the way that's not always when you're ready to receive them...the time is right for the ferret ;D ;D) Please feel free to prowl around check out the various sections, read threads, ask questions and get involved in discussions. Everyone's friendly. I hope I will be seeing you around. Good luck with your search....oh, there is a thread that lists some of the breeders in various areas that might be worth looking into. ciao

Welcome. I'm sure the right fuzzie will find you soon. Our most recent additions were three hours away but were definitely worth the effort.

I'll have to sweet talk my boyfriend into it, but I think we could work out a three hour drive. I already had a small talk with him about the problems with buying from pet store.
