So... Not only have I not been able to get anywhere with them, but they started protesting All I have tried adding was pork (which they ate) and rabbit. They even started protesting their chicken Since they decided they didn't want chunks anymore, I went and bought some commercial ground again. I'm thinking I might end up sticking with just feeding that I just don't know what to do about their teeth since two of the four are difficult (Sari won't even let me scruff her), so I can't brush their teeth I know Jennifer (Mustelidmusk) feeds her crew commercial ground mostly, and she said back on the old forum that she used Bonus antler chips (as in, they are cut up into slices) for their teeth. So, I ordered some to give it a try with them (supposedly, you can add oils to it since it's porous). I really hope that works, or else I'm out of ideas What do you think? Bantha and Pan would definitely let me brush their teeth, but not Reks and Sari...

Will they chew a bit of raw....gibblets/gizzards offer the same cleaning ability. If not, what about chunks of chicken necks drizzled in oil? I never had any success with the antler chips (had a friend who raises them so it was an easy try) but it's always worth a try. Chicken wing tips? With ferrets you leave no stone unturned . Are they protesting the ground or just the chunked stuff you're trying to introduce? I don't have a problem if you want to stop with commercial, it's by far better than them eating kibbles or the freeze dried stuff. ciao

They are only protesting the chunks. I have tried wing tips and necks, but they were just stashed (neither were cut up though ). After I got them on commercial ground to switch them, the first thing I tried was gizzards, but I can try them again. Maybe I can find something to put on it to make it more enticing, like the wysong uncanny powder that they love? I would LOVE for them to eat whole and frankenprey, but I really don't see it happening with this crew My biggest concern with commercial is them getting no teeth cleaning benefits, but I will try what you suggested to see what would work for them. Thanks Heather :3

Try that and see what happens. If it doesn't then we will have to do more investigating. I know there's a product or was a product called Leba III or something like that you could put in their water that helped prevent tartar build up. I don't know much about it but know that some people were very impressed with it. Another thing, I've got cats who eat nothing but ground commercial raw. Their teeth are in very good shape. Two of them have never touched anything bigger than mush in their whole life (other than kibbles). They're 15 yrs old and have been eating raw for about 10 or more years (not entirely sure they were my MIL's kitties). There are a number of factors that go into tartar build up but one of the components is genetics. Napoleon who never knew a kibble (except to dig in it) had terrible, ghastly teeth. Horrible, horrible mouth. He even had two molars pulled and he only lived to be 6 yrs old. If you feed commercial raw you will just have to pay closer attention to their teeth and you may just have to consider a commercial cleaning every few years. Expensive but it's something to consider
