I don't know if it's protest poops or whatever, but they're just starting the raw diet, we're still in the soup stage, and they no longer use the litterboxes. They pee/poo right outside, and once the paper is wet they won't go close to the box. They've started pottying on the tiles and on the carpet and now also on toys. I rarely catch them doing it but when I do I shout NO then put them in the litterbox to finish and praise them when they're in it. It might be because their schedule has changed so drastically with the feeding, and my schedule has changed drastically in the past month since school started. I don't know how to fix it if I'm never there to stop it in the first place.

Oh my! You do have a problem How much litter are you putting in the boxes? On raw, especially on soup, they pee a LOT!!! If there's only a layer in the box, it's going to get wet very fast and they'll refuse to step in it.

I have two layers of newspapers, about half an inch of the newspaper pellet things, and paper towels. There is newspaper underneath and around the edges since Goomba occasionally didn't back all the way up (now I'm lucky if he occasionally uses it)...I think they realized that the carpet soaks it up best The amount of pee is a little overwhelming It's soaked in the grout and I'm almost tempted to just put a flimsy little throw rug under the litter box area and just bleach it every week

Their bodies are becoming rehydrated Think about if you went your whole life drinking one glass of water a day, then suddenly started drinking 8-10 ;D It's the same thing. I've found I have to have about an inch of litter in the boxes and scoop twice a day.

The problem with my litter boxes is that they don't have a lip to keep in the pellets, so if I use too much it all comes tumbling out. They won't step over anything with a lip, so I ended up just cutting cat litter boxes in half. In retrospect, it would have been better to train them to use the normal kind

Could you cut one side down and leave enough to hold the litter in?

I'll have to go to the dollar store tomorrow and see if I can find some to cut up. I'll try. I hope they cooperate

I had potty issues when using care fresh litter. When I switch the a corn based clumping litter, potty habits greatly improved.
I hope you can figure this out. Good luck!

So it WAS the feet getting wet that they objected to! So glad you were able to solve it
