Hey, lately, I've been thinking of adding turkey to their chicken soup to give them yet another protein source. Do you think I can trick them in thinking it's regular soup? Or does raw chicken and raw turkey taste very different? What a mean mommy I am... plotting to trick the kids Thanks!

I know I used turkey hearts instead of chicken hearts making their soupies this time and mine didn't notice at all. Haven't tried changing the meat itself though.

Ground up turkey meat was actually the first meat I used for Olivia and Sophie. I honestly don't think there's a huge difference between chicken and turkey taste-wise. Mine seem to LOVE any sort of "bird" protein (chicken, turkey, quail, cornish hen, duck). They are pickier about beef, pork, lamb, etc. so I think those tastes they notice for sure, but I don't think you'll have an issue.
Just sneak a little bit of turkey in at first, then slowly increase. They won't even know what hit them ;D ;D ;D
And tricking your ferrets for their own good is pretty much a requirement of being a ferrent I think ;D

Mine seem to LOVE any sort of "bird" protein (chicken, turkey, quail, cornish hen, duck). They are pickier about beef, pork, lamb, etc. That is quite funny! My kids are very different! They LOVE NV freeze dried chicken and my homemade chicken soup, but they hate any other freeze dried chicken. They don't eat the Duck Duck Goose from CHP unless they're starving. They also aren't fans of duck... But whatever contains lamb they just devour! Pork, but they don't want nothing to do with beef either.... When I make my next batch of soups, I shall add in a it of turkey then Should I buy the pre-ground turkey, or a turkey breast? Or a bone-in leg and just strip the meat off? Lets hope for something good!!

I'd buy whatever is cheaper, to be honest ;D Sounds good! I will get what is most readily available, and least prep time... so... I guess already ground up ;D Gee, the life of a student doing practicums isn't the easiest!

Mine love ground turkey soup. Mine also love fowl a lot, more than pork. They do enjoy beef though.

Mine eat any soup. Liver kidney, anything in soupy form. If its a chance to get a meal without work, they take it. I actually was able to sneak in some EVOO in the soup and got Pix and Dixie to eat it sneaky momma As for beef, ive always used stewing beef. It's very fatty, and also cheap I cut all my kids food into skinny slivers and they seem to appreciate it (boy do they have me trained)
