After pricing this one, gas and the old one we could have just got a brand new one. Live and learn!! still worth every penny imo! I spent about $300 on crappy cages before I caved and spent another $300 on my FN. I was only able to recover about $100 from reselling the old cages. but it's all good. So happy with my FN!! Now you get to hit up one of our famous bedding makers and get some pretty matching shelf covers

But had you bought it new it would have been the 182 most likely and those ones suck. I just got a 3 level FN off kijiji for $200 (142 with the 143 add on). It has some " quirks" ;D like having to close the doors a certain way so they will latch and some warped trays but overall I'm pretty happy!

So how bad are the ferret nation ladders? We have all of them even the exit ramp. We covered them 3x thick with fleece and tied it like a shoelace in the back with yarn and needle. Is this thick enough? I feel as if their toes dont go between the bars. Heck two of them hardly use the stairs anyway.

As long as you have fabric covering the top of the ramps / ladders where they walk, you should be safe. Without a cover, many ferrets have gotten their toes stuck between the bars and had broken toes or worse. New Ferret Nation cages actually come with ramp covers now, they are just 1 layer thick of fleece that goes over the ramp like a sock and closes up with velcro on the end.

But had you bought it new it would have been the 182 most likely and those ones suck. I just reread this! After having my (used) FN for just a few days, and loving the ease of access, I'd say a crappy 182 would still be better than the tall SP I had with Rufus! Someone threw up on the step/shelves. I couldn't reach one of then until I took out the shelf above it. And then I still had to climb through the little door to do it!
