I've really been searching high and low for a better place to get rabbit than hare today, everywhere is like $4-$5 a pound and then shipping. I found a rabbit farm in my state on some random list of pet food supplier, but no website so I found them on facebook and sent them a message like a month ago. They finally responded and are selling whole rabbit for $1.25/pound and skinned for $1.75, heads and pinks are $2 a pound. Rabbit is the only thing other than mice that my cat eats that isn't poultry and I'm going to add it to my dogs raw too.

I know, I'm so excited! I was going to order 12 pounds through hare today, getting 30+ through these people.

When I actually had to buy rabbit(the very odd time) from a grocer's in a nearby town, I had to pay $25 a kilo Wound up getting it from a farm on an average of 10lb rabbits for $15! Mind you, they came intact, whereas the grocer's was fully dressed.

The skinned from these people are gutted, no heads or feet, I got that for the ferrets and cat, cat won't eat fur and the ferrets just eat around it, but I got whole for the dog. I'll still have to chop it up a bit into meal size hunks but I'm hoping she'll eat it, she's never had rabbit or anything with fur, if not I guess I'll chop it up, done it before but man fur flies everywhere and it's a bloody mess. My coworker said I need a hatchet and just do it in my garage when they are frozen, I might try that instead.

That would definitely work better. Mine are spoiled- they prefer playing with the fully intact carcass for a while ;D It actually got a few interested in eating rabbit, where they hadn't been previously!

I know, and they said that was a starting point and they would work with me on price. I was like, prices are good, here's what I want. I think I'm going to have to start up my other freezer again though, mine is fairly full, adding 35 pounds of rabbit, plus whatever I get from hare today is not going to fit.

Yay! Got my rabbit today. James said he didn't know he would spend the day butchering animals lol. They threw in a bunch of extra meat for hooking up another raw feeder with them. I got three huge whole rabbits, 4+skinned, 2 pounds of pinks and 3 of heads. My carnivores will be eating well. What's a good way to store whole rabbits? I don't have any bags big enough but figured they would stay better whole so I'll just chop one today.
