I was lucky enough to find some dehydrated elk kidney in my local raw feeding store Although getting my guys to eat kidney is all but impossible , they love this stuff! All but Boris of course ;D So what I do is supplement as treats the dried kidney instead of fighting to get them to eat it fresh. More than one way to get the much needed organ meats into them!!! This brand is from a private farm: North Fork Game Farm near Turner Valley, Alberta

I can't get mine to eat kidney either They take a sniff and they're gone. I"m busy dehydrating some venison lungs and livers this weekend. The dog is laying under the dehydrator drooling....he's being such a pain. The ferrets couldn't care less but I'm hoping that they will try some as they're not great at eating organs as organ meats (they eat it in a ground soupy mix) ciao

Hm, I didn't know kidney was so hated? All 3 of my girls refuse whole organs, but will readily eat liver, heart, and kidney soup (mixed with pumpkin and sometimes meat). Kidney is the only readily available organ aside from liver that I can get on a regular basis, so they better like it!

I"m in the same boat. Liver and kidneys are the run of the mill, I can get them all the time. I got venison heart, lungs and liver from a homeschool biology class. Once they were finished dissecting and poking it they gave it to me for the fuzzies. The heart is already gone as is half the liver and lungs (the dog got those, they heart was shared) ciao

Hey- once a month, I do a clean half way to a rather interesting ethnic store(hour's drive each way, otherwise ). I noticed something there I didn't have the cash for last time that I hope they have again. Lamb testicles And I can see if the little beggars will eat those ;D

Sherry, you got to be the only person around hoping to find some dead animal testicles! There's a place nearish me that ships grass fed organs and meat $$$, but they have a pack with testicles, I just don't know if I could do it. I found a person that raises cows near me, and want to ask them for some organs come butchering season, but I don't think I'll be asking for those! I know brains are supposed to be good too but same thing, I just don't think I can bring myself to chop and mess with it.

I may be odd but... having ate testicles before, they are pretty tasty. That being said, this is probably the only place in the world I can say that. ~Kelli

In that case, if anyone ever offers you "prairie oysters" run the other way. Very, very fast ;D

My ferrets think kidneys are candy... guess I'm lucky ;D Good to know there are alternatives though just in case I'm not so lucky with the new ones!

I remember prairie oysters- I was much less open about eating things like that when I tried it.
Sherry, I wanted to warn you, the land around Turner Valley/ Black Diamond has a high mercury content due to the gas plant and the government approving the river to be re routed. It's in the food and water supply.

Oh, joy! Thanks. I'm going to check and see exactly HOW close the farm is to Turner Valley/Black Diamond area.
