No, it isn't. I don't get wysong's. They put ou some phenomenal foods for ferrets, and then they put out crap like that Stick with the archetypal 1, or if you are going to do kibble, then the epigen 90

Oh! I see. I only clicked on the Archetypal #2 because it said it had a higher fat content, which I thought was good. So Archetypal #1 is balanced then?

Yes, it is the better food by far. It's more expensive because it doesn't have the fillers the type 2 has.

The best thing to do if you want to go the freeze dried route is to rehydrate the archetypal-1 and then begin gradually mixing it with raw soup. Makes it last wayyy longer. Price-wise, you are also way better off to get the ferrets on a raw diet (bone-in, muscle meat, organs) and then just feed the freeze-dried on days you don't have time to prepare the raw/when you go away on vacation and need to takes the ferrets with you or leave them with a sitter. You will save way more money that way. Plus the rehydrated freeze-dried really doesn't do anything for cleaning their teeth.

Wysong's site doesn't show the actual product, which is why it's so confusing... the 2 is just kibble, while the 1 is freeze-dried meat/organ. Despite both being called "Archetype" they're not comparable at all!

Archetypal 2 is kibble. It is loaded with grains. Stay away from it. Archetypal 1 is freeze dried raw chicken. You can feed dry or rehydrated. Do not mix with kibble. If you want to feed kibble, the superior kibble on the market is Wysong Ferret Epigen 90. It has no grains or starches.

I dont fees kibble but I know several people that feed wysong ferret Epigen 90 and they say it is awesome and they eat a lot less of it bc they get more of what they need with less.
I do feed the Archetypal 1 and it is great. I love wysong probiotics. They add it to most all of their food. I am pretty sure the Epigen 90 for ferrets also has the wysong probiotics.

Okay, I've been reading a lot more and just weighing all my options. I'm still leaning towards whole prey but now I've read that "Nature's Variety Instinct Grain-Free Duck Meal and Turkey Meal Dry Cat Food" softened and fed daily, with treats (like a few times a week) of fresh ASF rats, turkey necks, mealworms, and unsalted butter here and there is a good diet. Is this true? <re-asking this question in a new thread to get some quick feedback >
