I mix olive oil (my brats won't eat it straight up) with either marine fish oil or seal oil. You will see quite a mix of oils that are used. ciao

Personally, I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil because it's a great lubricant for hairballs, is good for the skin and coat and also has some other medical benefits (I don't remember exactly what it does, I think it has anti-inflammatory properties). However, giving fish oil (salmon or other) is also recommended because they can actually digest the animal proteins. Too much fish oil = stinky runny poops though so I give 1/2 tsp per ferret of EVOO daily (or 1/2-1 tsp every other day, it all depends on whether or not they are shedding and how much they need it) and then I do salmon oil 1-2 times a week. Just make sure the fish oil is good quaity and organic (you don't want any nasty chemicals or toxins in it).

Ok. Since this is going to be used in the soupies I will just get some EVOO for now. We have some fish oil tabs sitting in the cupboard from when my dog was getting dry skin last month, so I'll just pop one once a week or so OH, while I've got ya here, I am going shopping tomorrow morning to pick up stuff I need to switch to raw, can you review my list? -boneless chicken -Small chicken wings -liver and any other organs I can find -bone meal -metal shower hooks -a kitchen scale -oil -small stainless steel bowls

Looks good for starting out. I would add "chicken hearts" to the list. For your soup you're going want to use this recipe: -8oz chicken breast -1 chicken liver -1-2 chicken hearts -1/4-1/2 tsp bone meal (if you can't find this, you can also used crushed dried-out egg shells) -Add water and blend until soupie Do you have some sort of food processor/blender you can use? This will be very helpful in making the soup. Also I'm not sure what you will need the small stainless steel bowls for. You are, however, going to want to get some sort of food dishes/plates for the ferrets to eat off of. Most ferrets prefer plates or flat dishes over deep bowls for eating raw out of. Are you signed up for the mentoring program? I highly recommend it EDIT: Totally did not realize you were the same person who I replied to about the soupie thread ;D ;D ;D So ignore the repetitiveness on the soup menu. ;D

Its totally ok At my walmart they sell ferret sized stainless steel bowls that are fairly shallow, we used them with my last cat who was completely raw fed, I can look for more of a small plate though too. Is deer heart ok with chicken soupie? We have 3 in the freezer lol so it would be easy to get And yes we have a blender and a crappy food processor lol. I made some plain raw chicken breast and water medium thickness puree/soup and Goose ate about a half a tablespoon or so of it. Pretty good for his first time
