Hi all! I'm a long time lurker (like years) and decided to finally introduce myself. I don't have any ferrets and have never owned one but decided it was time to post since I'm almost in a position where I can get my first pair, it will be a few months yet still. I currently have 2 cats, Boots who is 8 and a recently diagnosed diabetic and Kobi who is 7 months. I've found a lot of the ferret information can be transfered to cats which has helped me a ton with diet information and health information. Pumpkin has been a life saver as has the diet stuff. I currently suplement with raw and feed orijen dry food for now. Boots' diabetes is and has been under control a few days after he was diagnosed and started insulin which was about 3 weeks ago. The vet was amazed but annoyed I didn't feed the perscription corn garbage. Anyway, I hope to get 2 ferrets in the near future when the cat situation is a bit more stable (less vet visits and peeing out of the box) and I want to AT LEAST supplement raw 4 times a week but really hoping to switch over and even got great deals on chicken and froze it just for the future ferts lol, boyfriend didn't like that very much. I added some pictures of the cats. Boots and Kobi cuddling for the first and only time heh My big boy Boots Kobes loving the raw chicken thigh, Boots not so sure

Hi and welcome I'm sorry to hear about your kitties but I'm glad to hear that indirectly we've managed to provide you with sufficient information to help them through this difficult time. I'm not sure that this information will help you or not but we've found that cats diabetes is much easier to control once they're off dry kibbles. Even if you feed moist (not the best but better) it seems to provide better control. It's just a thought. Do you already have some fuzzies lined up? Are they kits or rescue? We of course will expect to see these gorgeous little fuzzes when you get them, pictures are mandatory (this of course you already know if you've been doing serious lurking ;D ;D) ciao

We just love black and white kitties. I'm glad your older one is doing well. We were sent home with our black and white 9 yrs ago with the vet telling us he was dying from his heart condition and they could do nothing for him. We switched him to raw and he has very few issues now at 12yr old. He doesn't even need the meds he was on.
I hope you get your ferrets soon.

Hi, and welcome So glad you decided to come out of the proverbial woodwork ;D Your kitties are adorable! And yes, getting them off the kibbles entirely would be the best thing you could do for them. A vet I was seeing before she moved firmly believes the number one reason for the explosion of feline diabetes is directly linked to kibbles
