So I was wondering if I should try this with Penelope? Some reptile keepers (myself included) have been known to pop f/t mice into the blender in order to save the lives of our reptiles. (It's a method of very last resort to syringe feed a snake too weak to swallow).
I was thinking I could use the puree technique to help switch Penne onto mice. She takes pinkies, but they're not nutrient rich like adults. Mouse soupie anyone?
Opinions welcome!

I used this method to teach my 3 ferrets to like the taste of adult mouse. I added chicken and olive oil to the soup so it didn't taste like straight mouse, because at first they didn't like the mouse taste. Then I gradually added more and more mouse until it was all mouse and they would eat it. It worked, now they eat adult mice and they eat the whole thing even the tail.

Okay, glad I'm not completely crazy on this. I'll give it a go After I am finished using the blender for human food.

To get mine onto mice, I started with chopped up pinkies(where you are now), went to larger pinkies, then small fuzzies with the belly cut open and a lure squirted inside, and so on up the size chain. Didn't take very long for them to start accepting whole adult mice

I would think if she'll take pinkies, can you get pinkies just becoming fuzzies so there isn't much fur but a little? I would think she likes the taste of mice ok if she eats pinkies so maybe it's just the fur she hasn't gotten over.

I just give her whole pinkies with a hole in their brain. I can try peach fuzzies, I was kind of hoping I could switch her before ordering extra mousies cause I don't have any snakes who can eat them if she doesn't.
It might also have something to do with the fact that pinkes can also be washed safely with soap whereas fur bearing mice cannot. I washed the pinkies to reduce the scent.

Pinky washing is a reptile thing... She was very unsure of the scent originally but that is probably because I tried with a furred fuzzy first.
