I've been lurking the holistic ferret boards for a while now, even though I've been posting/participating in the forums over at ferret.com. I am the proud ferrant to a 5 1/2 month old silver mitt kid named Ned, who keeps me on my toes and never fails to make me laugh. He's a bit of a weirdo (his latest strange behavior is rubbing his face on the xmas tree whenever he gets half a chance), but I love him for it all the same . I lost my two adopted older girls a few months ago, and sadly I did not have enough time with them (both were elderly when adopted, one developed lymphoma fairly shortly afterwards and was helped over the bridge, and the other had an extremely large adrenal tumor that grew rapidly and was causing her pain at the end. ) I have thought about getting Ned a friend but at the current point in my life he is enough to keep me on my toes!! I am interested in the possibility of switching him to a prey model raw diet, or potentially a whole prey diet.
I am also the owner of two large dogs, that both seem to think Ned is the bees knees . My biggest dog (who hated my two girls...probably because one of them grabbed him by the nose the first time they met and would not let go), loves to snuggle with Ned and he lets Ned stick his face into his ear (why are ferrets so obsessed with dog ears?) . I have to watch my smaller female as she tries to play a little rough with Ned and while she would never dream of putting her mouth on him, she walks around like a hippo and I worry she would step on him by accident. Stinger is very careful about where he puts his feet, but Karma is a bull in a china shop, so I try to keep her away from Ned when she's wound up.
I've also included a picture of Ned from when I first got him a month and a half ago (he was 4 months old at the time). Enjoy!

Also, here's a picture of him from the other day being weird with the christmas tree.
