I noticed tonight that my 2.5 year old male ferret has a light blue ring around his genitalia. Any one have any idea what could have caused it or what it means?
Thanks

Could he have caught it on anything? Cage bars, ramps, anything like that?

OK, I'll be blunt with the description....is the pale blue coloring around the base of his pee-hole -->on either side of the pee- hole and in front of it (where "in front" is toward his head rather than the tail?) His pee-hole is probably raised and pinker incolor. If so , this seems normal. I've see a lot of boys with a bluish tinge around the pee-hole - there are quite a few veins in this area. I'm betting this is more like a gentle halo around 3 sides of his pecker, which is most likely normal.
HOWEVER, is there is a blue area that is on one side, a darker spot, a lump under the skin (kind of like a hard B-B under the skin), this could be an apocrine gland cyst, which shuld be revoved ASAP.
When in doubt, ask a vet!

I found some pictures that demonstrate some of the "bluish" color you may see around a ferret's penis. Thi ferret has a bluish penis in general. You'll need to scroll down to see the loight colored ferret . www.pet-informed-veterinary-advice-online.com/ferret-sexing.html#ferret-dossome ferrets have mre of the blue color around the penis - the one in this picture has less of the halo effect, but you can see he does have a fancy colored pecker - LOL!!! -jennifer
