Short answer...No. Longer answer...a few bites now and then is probably not a problem. It will become a problem if done for too long. Frankly, I think a week is too long. Dog food is too low on protein for starters, and contains too many carbs.

Dog food is also lacking taurine. I don't think you will see a deficiency from a week but it should be a concern as well. Main issue I see is that ferrets tend to have issues switching food - they imprint pretty easily. Ferrets are, like cats, hghly suscpetible to fatty liver (hepatic lipidosis) which can occur quickly when a ferret goes on a hunger strike. My two cents

what do you feed normally? i would not use the dog's food for more than a few days.

Have you considered offering them some raw? You may have to start with hand feeding a purée soup if they don't take to little slivers if meat right off. Take a look at some of the mentoring threads in the nutrition section to see how to do it.

No, no dog food. You would be farther ahead to feed kitten food because at least then you would cover their nutritional needs. You have to get a food that covers their very basic needs and dog food doesn't cut it. Let's face it, dog biscuits/kibbles doesn't cover the dog's basic needs it's never going to cover the ferrets. Sorry ciao

I admit I have ran out of food and had to go to the dollar store before and buy some purina kitten chow. It was $4. Most gas stations and grocery stores sell small boxes of kitten food for $2

I'd load up one of those big feeding syringes with ground up raw chicken and some crushed eggshells and go to town! like my parents did when we were growing up. if you don't like what's for dinner, OH WELL, you are eating it anyway!!
