Hi there! I just discovered this forum after searching for places to research raw diets.
My 2 girls (Muta and Yuki) are both 4.5 years old and in good health (one has rat tail and nothing has helped it unfortunately...if you have any suggestions on that, any help would be greatly appreciated!)
I was wondering what the best way to get older ferrets into raw food might be? My girls are very picky eaters, and have turned their noses up when offered raw chicken before. Is there something that your ferrets have taken to without a second thought?

Hi and welcome on board.
Your one wee one may actually have adrenal if she hasn't aquired any fur on her tail yet. There is also some pattern hair loss that often goes with it other than just the rat tail. There are a number of symptoms that are usually looked for, rat tail being one though certainly not a As far as switching you may want to give a read through our nutritional section, check out the various threads and the mentoring section. You can't post to the individual posts in the mentoring section but there is a ton of switching information. You can also apply for a mentor, to work one on one with one of our knowledgeable team to help switch your wee ones. There are a number of different ways to try and switch your little ones. From breading strips of raw meat with a favourite ground kibble, to raw soupies. You work around and with your little ones to create a better diet by following the guidelines for a balanced diet

HI Juliaremy! Welcome to the natural world of ferrets! Switching older ferrets can be successful but not always - depends on the ferret. As one who has adopted many "older" ferrets (3 - 6 years old) only one refused to switch out of the 15!
Browse this forum and the original forum for all sorts of ideas, hook up with a mentor. Jump in and watch your ferrets transform!
The rat tail - does the tail look like it has blackheads in the pores?Is the ferret getting any adrenal med support like lupron and melatonin?
