I've signed up for the mentoring program but I thought whilst I'm waiting I would get things that I would need for it! Can you guys help me put together an ideal shopping list of muscle meats and bone in meats as well as organs? I've got a little list right now of what might work written down. On Monday I am going to a lot of little asian butchers and wholesale places to see what I can get and for how much. I have a budget of around $100 and would like to stock up a fair bit

100 bucks should give you a nice bit of meat. I'd suggest starting off with the "basics". Whole chickens are a great thing to stock up on as well as cornish game hens. Chicken breasts, liver, HEART which depending on where you are can be awkward to come by, and gizzards, brains. Two different styles of beef; ground and whatever cut your mentor recommends. Pork, turkey wings, turkey breasts. If you can find lamb, rabbit, or anything else that would be good too. If your ferret(s) don't have insulinoma. I would grab a couple of cans of pumpkin. makes sure it's NOT pie filling. You want it to be 100% pure pumpkin. You'll usually find it in two pound cans. Sherry gave some great suggestions here.... holisticferret60.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=meat&action=display&thread=146It's wise to look at the forum stickies. It'll do wonders for your nerves while you wait. holisticferret60.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=meat

My guys already eat most meats and bones and stuff so I was planning on stocking up on things like hearts, livers chicken wings and necks, a few quails some rabbit and various muscle meats as well as giblets. We don't have canned pumpkin over here... so I just use normal pumpkin and freeze it ice cube trays then give it to them

It sounds like you've got a good idea of what you'll need You just need to balance their diet for optimal nutrition

Well on my list currently I have hearts, livers, chicken wings, chicken necks, lamb necks (if i can find them) quail, chicken meat, beef meat, rabbit, pheasant, emu, kangaroo, giblets and maybe some goat depending on what I can find and how much it all is on monday I might try to get some more bone meats but I'm aiming for 2-3kgs of each which is 4 - 6 pounds.. I'm aiming to feed them twice a day at about 500g per meal so 1kg a day depending on how much they will actually eat cause they hide a lot of it and I go back and pick it big chunks of it up and the end of the day..

When I cook it for them it's practically mush then I blend it with some water! Is that ok?? Im not sure that the consistency is meant to be..

I would try to get as many small boned animals as you can. Small fowl, small prey (rabbits, frogs, etc). If you go by a feeding schedule of 2 meals a day 8-9 of those meals will be bone in. So boned meats will be the bulk of what you feed. You'll need about 4-5 muscle meat meals (and 1-2 of these should be heart meat). Finally you have a single organ meal, that should be 50% liver, 50% other organs (kidney, spleen, brain etc). I hope that helps you figure out how much of everything you need.
