I had just finished making the first batch of raw soup for my new boy Howie with my ancient black and decker food processor when I noticed these little white flakes on the top of the soup. Turns out they were flakes of plastic that had shredded off of the middle piece of the food processor part that spins around Not cool! I would rather not feed my ferret plastic Or myself if I was using it for making food. I know it's an older model, but you think they would make things that handle food a little safer So I think it's definitely time for a new food processor, this one's been fading on me for a while and now that it's become a danger, it's gotta go! Does anyone have a brand/model of food processor they use that they really like? I've always hated this thing, too hard to take apart, clean, etc. So I'm looking for something that works well, is easy to clean and won't cost me a fortune since I'll only really be using it to make soupies while Howie is switching, and then once a month or so to keep the ferrets liking their soupies. Any reccomendations? Thanks

I have the tiny $10 job I picked up, does maybe 2 cups at a time, the size makes it almost useless BUT I've put so much crap through it and it's still working like a charm 5 years later. I haven't done bone in meat for ferrets through it but I've put everything else under the sun in there, including some cooked bones to break up for soup bases. www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Decker-Handy-Chopper-Plus-1.5-Cup-White/11186318Ok, mine has "$9.99" printed on the box so either it was a sale item or they double the price. I'm going with they doubled the price since the economy is so booming. ~Kelli

Kelli- be really careful with the bones you use cooked. You need to be able to mash them between your fingers, or they become like glass on their insides.

Its not for the ferrets Sherry When I make stock for human consumption I include bones in the seasoning for the additional calcium and marrow flavor. Everything gets strained before I can it so it's just pure broth. ~Kelli

;D Sherry, you know you've been catering too long to your ferrets when... ;D Thanks Kelli . I will see if I can find something like that here, I really don't need a fancy big one because I only ever make small batches.
