there is now a diverse mix been added to the ferret gene pool ( and not everyone will own up to it !) years ago there was no such thing as a dew as people simply bred colour to colour then the angora ( fur farm experiment which became the i want for the moment) then we had people going mad for the hybrid ( all polecats and coloured ferrets are hybrids because they evolved from the wild polecat so they all carry some % lol ) now its the black self ( which not a lot a will confess to carrying mink blood ) then there is the mix up of the hybrid x self ( a way to try and improve the skull and eyes while retaining colour ) I simply don't understand what is wrong with the good old fashioned ferrets breed them how there meant to be if a really dark one pops up in a litter its a bonus but as long as there strong healthy and live long lives what more can you ask for ? take care bye for now Bev

Micro ferrets, teacup pigs, toy dogs, dwarf cats, miniature horses, bantam chickens, bonzai plants all because people like to manipulate nature and box it up, pen it up and display it as oh, isn't this cute? No regard to the reasons behind nature's evolution in creating that organism in a much larger version or IOW all the small and tiny versions get devolved by Mother Nature!
There are some advantages to breeding an animal to smaller stature if it's done to suit a particular human need. But going to far ends up in producing animals with a host of health problems. The trick is knowing when to stop and being responsible enough TO stop! Not just make the bucks now and let someone else worry about consequences.
