HI everyone, just got around to making introductions My name is Jo, I've had ferrets for about three years now, we had five but today we have been reduced to four and I'm quite raw and blaming myself over this. Marley, who passed over the bridge this morning. Gomez, my lady killer. All five of them together in a basket! I don't have separate images of the other three on here They live outside in their cage and come indoors everyday for play time and meals, they're about to start litter training 'boot camp' because the younger two refuse to use a litter tray no matter what and the others have become lazy now. I feed them raw meat as a staple with the meats changing up every so often, last week they were on chicken now they're on beef. They get chicken necks, wings etc and mice when I can afford t buy them because they're quite pricey around my area. I'm interested in maybe starting up a feeder colony of mice for the ferrets to reduce costs and improve their diet.

Thanks for the welcomes! It really is like a sledge hammer to the face and the heart, I've come close to losing Gomez twice from what we thought was a blockage at first until he became sick again this year with the same symptoms, took him to a vet who knows more about ferrets and she opened him up and discovered that his entire liver was infected! He has a fatty mass around his lymphnodes that we think is what's causing it so at the moment I'm trying to work out a good diet for him (and maybe the rest of the gang) to hopefully keep that mass at bay. Thank you for the kind words about Marley , she was my first female and quite close to my heart, literally too She used to spend hot summer days sleeping down my shirt whilst I froze under the air con to keep her cool because that was the only place she slept. Such a mischievous little thing and always getting up to things and into things she shouldn't... One time she introduced everyone to carbon paper. Boy that was fun! Blue ferrets for a week. My vet didn't think it was a blockage and at the moment I'm chalking it up to bad breeding because the person I got her from inbred for colours and all sorts. If I get more I will definitely stick to adopting, I've had so much trouble with the ferrets I've had from breeders, where as Bert my second male I adopted and have had no problems with at all
