How do you go about switching cages?
I still haven't finished the whole FN bedding...but one level is done so I put my boys in it just now. So they have one level for now to potty train with new litter (went to paper pellets instead of newspaper, but I put the pellets on top of the newspaper so hopefully theyll go on it).

the only thing I did when I switched cages is that I took their hammock and blankets from the old cage and put it in the new cage

I put everything new in when I changed cages. They loved it!

We just didn't want to overwhelm them with a new surrounding. They did well in the cage...minus somehow managing to unhook the shelf and had it topple onto Bonkers =[ He was alright though, and I placed them back into their old cage until I can figure out how to prevent that again.

I found the shelves sometimes took a bit to settle in to the brackets. One thing I had to stop doing was hooking hammocks from the shelf to the cage wall. They'd bounce from the shelf to the hammock, to the floor, and wind up knocking it loose. Something else you can do in the interim is put either a highback litter box under it, a sleeping or feeding den works also. You can also wire the shelves in place so they hold better til they settle. We haven't had that happen for a long time now.

I had their litter box underneath it. The hammock is hanging above the shelf (slightly off). I'll try to wire it in later.

I used a pair of pliers to squeeze the end hooks on the ramps closed so they couldnt pull the ramps off. If i need to take them off I'll just pull it open with the pliers again.

Since I move the shelf levels every time I clean the cages, I can't do that- metal fatigue would set in pretty quickly
