My little guy will eat 10 fuzzy rats a day easily. Is it just me or is that a ton of food? I have a hard time believing they would eat this much in the wild, which is the diet we are trying to replicate.

how old are your ferrets? i mean it is possible theyre just that hungry given age and weight, ferrets dont strike me as an animal to over eat something thats as hard as a rat to eat, i mean soup yea no chewing but chewing rats?

I don't know how big a fuzzy rat is, but 10 of the mice fuzzies seems like a lot. Are you certain your ferret isn't stashing these rats somewhere you don't know about? I didn't know Brady had a secret stash place until i noticed something stinking and ripped my room apart. He had a duck neck stashed in a sneaker in my closet. Mine get fed in their cage and he still managed to sneak a WHOLE duck neck out... so do consider hunting for a stash of dead fuzzies

A fuzzy is almost nothing, Sly ate 3 and two tablespoons of venison the very first day I tried raw/ whole prey.
Now that he gets large mice, he can eat two generally. feed bigger and you'll feed less.

Well fuzzies are more like candy, not much work to eat and very yummy to ferrets, I know with my crew, pinkies and fuzzies are gone right away, where larger prey they work at slowly. But weight wise that's a lot, is he newly switched to raw?

He's a new guy, about 3 mo old now, and has been on whole prey and raw meat for 2 or 3 weeks. He'll eat about 3 or 4 a session. Fuzzy rats weigh more than the mice by a substantial amount as well.
I'll switch to bigger rats next order with rodent pro.

He is young, new to raw. Young ferrets can really eat a lot. I'd start feeding only adult prey (mice, rats, whatever). They have more nutritional value and will fill him up better. What other raw/whole prey are you feeding?

Chicken neck, gizzards, wings, and pork back.

Definitely introduce older rats, and I'd get some adult mice as well. That gives him a base of 4 proteins then.
