Hi everybody!
My name is Julie and I joined this forum because over the past few weeks I have obtained three little weasels! I have had a ferret in the past, but I must say the more the merrier! LOL well three is enough for me, but I really do enjoy watching them rough house and get into trouble with each other. They certainly are cool little creatures.
The first one I found outside PetCo on a cold Miami night a few weeks ago (yes, "cold" Miami night, lol, it was in the 50's), I guess someone just left him out there in the box (the store was closed). I took him home and searched for a cage on Craiglist, found a brand new ferret nation for only $100. Called the guy, met up to get the cage, and was surprised when I got there that the cage came with a ferret. Hm, he didn't mention that in his craigslist ad. Well, I wasn't going to turn the poor little ferret down, they obviously didn't want him and he had been eating kibbles n bits dog food his whole life (they said they've had him a year and they got him as a baby). So I took Ralph in as well, and he and Norman have been best of friends. Then, a week ago this past Sunday, my boyfriend shows up with a tiny white/silver female ferret (without my consent). We believe she is deaf and we have been battling either a virus or upper respiratory infection with her... I took her to the vet on the 11th and I am still waiting to get the results back from her nose swab. They went ahead and prescribed her an antibiotic in case it is an URI (she has puffy eyes, stuffy nose, sneezing more than normal), and it seems as though she is responding because her eyes aren't as puffy and she isn't sneezing as frequently. She's also getting baby benadryl (liquid) twice a day, along with nose drops to help clear out her sinuses. She is in quarantine at our house - keeping her away from the boys so she doesn't get them sick.
I am also the proud Mama of 2 catahoula leopard dogs, a cocker/lab mutt and a pit bull terrier, as well as three kitties. I am an active member on DogFoodChat (a great website for raw feeders), a few members over there recommended this forum. Miamiferret2 is one of the customers at the store I work at, she also recommended the forum to me. So here I am! And here come's the cuteness...!
In my arms, Ramona (white), Norman (bottom), Ralph (on the right). This was taken before I realize how sick Ramona was (they are now seperated).
Ferret pile!
Ralph & Ramona
Norman (Ralph & Ramona are behind him)... I think Norman is the most handsome.
Little Ramona
Norman pancaking
Doggies, for whoever is interested. Topher, Finnigan, Rogue
Finnigan, Rambo
Thanks for looking! I look forward to participating and learning more about feeding my weasels a species-appropriate raw diet! All animals here are PMR fed.
