Hi... my name is Christy and I am a new ferret mom of two named Smokey and MacKenzie. We adopted them from a family on Sunday.
I have a husband named Justin Sr and four kids - Justin Jr, Laura, Rebekah, and Gabriella. We have two rescued dogs named Cali and Hercules and two rescue cats named Tiger and Tiberius. And yes since we rescue all our animals, we rescued these ferrets also.
It all started at a petstore where i was getting fish. My 11 year old son and hubby were looking at ferrets.. and my son asked for one. There was a cute little ferret really wanting our attention. Though tempting as rescuers we know how important it is to do research first.
So i did the research with my son. And we decided to become ferret parents.
We found these two ferrets on craigslist who needed a new home. They definitely need better care... one is very skinny and the other is not much heavier but a little bit more meat to her bones than the male. I emailed the original owners to ask if she noticed anything such as him not eating, but she said that he wont eat ferret food only cat food that she gave him... then she told me he is skinny cause he is going to get his winter coat. His fur is not soft at all and not very thick at all.
Doing all my research on this board and raw diets, i know what is best to feed them. And I want to work on getting them on a raw diet. I guess the only issue i may have is when we go away for the week or so, if there will be anyone willing to feed the raw food ... but I will deal with that as it comes. I had already committed to these guys and thought i was going to buy a good grain free kibble.. but i am drawn to the raw foods...
I will have pictures tomorrow...
