I haven't been to the butcher in about a month, and sometime within that span they have closed down. No notice or warning, just a sign on the door saying they are closed. I live in a very small town, and buying from the local supermarket is out of the question. Everything there is very expensive and way out of my budget. I don't have a vehicle so getting to the next closest butcher is unfortunately not an option for me either. I have been looking more into freeze dried stuff, but I'm not sure where to begin or if an entirely freeze dried diet is viable. The Caseys Hidden Pantry website has sooooo much stuff, I am not sure what to buy. If any of you feed a lot of freeze dried, I would love your input. I'd love any input, really, I just don't want to go back to kibble.

If you're going to order on line why not use haretoday or rodent pro?? Freeze dried is very expensive (at least it is up here, far more expensive than whole meats) and though commonly used and though it's supposed to be pure in ingredient is still a dried food. Just a thought. ciao

Freeze dried is expensive. I had two female fuzz at the time (2 lbs each). I used to buy 3 proteins (16 oz bags) for $20 each. That's $60. The three bags freeze dried patties would MAYBE last me 2-3 weeks rehydrated.

Thanks guys. This is why I'm asking, I really am not sure what the alternatives are.

Check in the diet section. We've got a board for raw and whole prey providers. You might find something on there.

I feed mine a mix of CGH $2 each, whole chickens from grocery store cost me $5 then they get all the varieties of stella and chewys and vital essentials except chicken since they eat that raw. I dont really know how much I spend a month since I never run out but I usually order 1 big bag of beef nibblets and 4 small bags of s&c cost about $50 per order.

Oh and I found feeding freeze dried is cheaper then hare today or rodent pro for me because I don't have the freezer space to order in bulk and its a waste of $ if I have to pay for a box with a tiny bit of dry ice in it. Also hare today mostly only has ground which mine can't stand.
