I think if you can get the des. implant, it's definitely worth a shot. I attached an article about using the des. as a chemical neuter. The longer you can put off neutering, the longer you can hopefully) put off adrenal disease. Attachments:

They're breeders ferrets they're not going to be as gentle or as polite as any of the farm ferrets. I really like breeder ferrets, but they're challenging. I love working with them, partially because they're so unpredictable. Once you get through to them though, they love unconditionally. One of the problems is your guys knew that they were being put to bed, back in their cage. They don't want to go. Odin and Thor took a long time before they trusted me. You've only had your guys for a few days, they certainly don't trust you yet. You learn to be careful about suddenly grabbing them, talk to them first. Breeder ferrets always seem to have other things going on with their minds...these boys are thinking about "sex " right now, so they're going to be a bit touchy too. It doesn't mean that they're nasty, just preoccupied ;D ciao

How did you manage to come across a pair of unneutered ferts out of curiosity?

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. Do you know where the owner got them?

Probably Paris There are some breeders in that area . Years ago there was a ferret farm shut down in that area. If you go to the ferretaid site I believe you will find the rescue . Unfortunately, the gov't didn't see fit to shut them down entirely and left some ferret in their care. I'm not saying these little ones are from that original site but they could well be from that particular breeder who never altered as part of their contract of sale. ciao

I honestly don't know where they came from originally. They came from a pet lady not far from me, I'll ask her where she got them from. They are getting neutered in the next week or two ! At a vet in London I'll keep everyone updated !

Great news :boing: Keep working with them, but they will settle a lot better once they've been altered. At least they won't be spending their whole time thinking of sweet little female fuzzes Please keep us posted ciao

I'll definitley keep everyone posted on Slinky and Yoyo. I'm getting them done at Staples in London. They charge $100, that's with everything. I'm not getting either of them descented though, all the things I've heard that could go wrong, scare me. I'm still working on getting pics of my old man, Smoky up !

Most vets won't descent. It's an unnecessary and dangerous surgery. I've got two poofers, they don't smell any worse than my farm ferrets. Now they "can" smell a lot worse but it only lasts a few minutes and then it's done. It's not an oil like a skunk, it can make your eyes water but that's it ciao
