Hi and welcome, Jackie
Homeschooled in ON. Fantastic, I homeschooled both my skinkids. We're an hour out of Toronto.
Sounds like you had quite the adventure last night. How's your brother's finger? Sore I bet. The next time one of the guys latch on, push your hand or finger into their mouths, instead of pulling away. They will let go that way. If you pull away it's their instinct that tells them not to let go. He could have been testing you, a bit nervous because it was a new place, hungry or playing. At this stage of the game it's often hard to tell. As far as hunting the kitties...how old are the kittens? It is adviced that ferrets and small kittens don't associate until the kittens are at least 4 or 5 months old. I know there are a whole bunch who've kittens have lived, played and loved together since the beginning but the general concensus is...not until the kittens are larger than bunny rabbits....think prey guys. If you know nothing (and you can't always rely on the honesty of the previous owner) then it's better to be safe than sorry. We all know that ferrets are ingrained hunters. It's in their genetics and there are very few who don't know how to hunt and kill even though they may never have done it before. It's much better to be safe than sorry. I didn't have to teach my guys to hunt and kill rats, they did it on their own.
Please feel free to prowl the forum, read the threads and ask questions. No question is silly or stupid...ask it. If you've thought of the question, chances are someone else has too As you've already seen, they love pictures here. Get involved, have fun. Everyone's friendly. I hope that I will be seeing you around
ciao
