I was at Target today and I saw some $2.50 plastic bins for sale in the cheapo section (where everything is between $1 and $3).

They were $2.50 each, and I thought they looked handy. But when I got home I realized hey, that looks about the same size and shape as the Marshall high-backed litterboxes I have, which I LOVE, but ferret.com doesn't sell any more, and they cost $13 each at Petco, if you can find them!!
So after some quick cutting with my Dremel cutoff wheel, I have something almost identical to my Marshall litterboxes:

I really like this size and shape, it's just big enough for my boys but not TOO big, I don't want to use more litter and I'd rather have 3 smaller litterboxes than 1 huge one. Also the height is about perfect for clamping onto the horizontal cage bars!
Now, my boy Finn has a habit of sleeping in the litterboxes. I got the idea from trippyferret of making a bed for him out of a litterbox, so I decided to use one of these for it. She said she put blankets in hers, but I figured my ferrets would just kick them out and drag them around, so I thought I would try slipping a pillowcase over it, and zip-tying the end shut, like so:

Clamped it to the cage, right above the litterbox where he usually sleeps. So far, it looks like Finn approves!

So, from now on, whenever I catch him sleeping in the litterbox, I will just move him to this new bed. We'll see if it works ;D
My nephew currently doesn't have a way of clamping his litterboxes to the cage, the plastic bins we used are too tall for the clamp to reach the horizontal cage bar. His ferrets push the litterboxes around, then poop behind them. So I think I will whip up 2 more of these for him, and we can clean and sterilize his existing ones and use them for feeding or sleeping dens instead, they are perfect for that
I love making stuff for my ferrets!
