Hi I am new to the forum and 8 week old megz is on vitalin and james well beloved mixed. ( dry food from her breeder ) I have just started to introduce raw to her chicken breast was loved as was chicken wing smallest end cut up, minced beef was ignored. We travel quite a bit at weekends and camp ( medieval reenactment ;D) It would be difficult to keep raw fresh for a weekend in a field( I do not want to make her ill with off meat) so eating some dry would be better for her. How can you mix the 2 feeding regimes? Is it possible? I presume that she would need a proper mix of raw bones, organ etc but dry food available. At the moment she seems to enjoy raw chicken but not minced beef. Hope you can help I know fully raw is better but she would rather be with us than left alone for weekends Hilly

When I travel I use frozen food, a cooler and ice. Never had a problem. Sometimes it takes a bit of ingenuity but it's really simple when you get the hang of it. For the dogs I just shop at the local grocery every night. For the ferrets, they just get whatever is available....bit of stewing beef, chicken, gibbies or gizzards...they're not picky. I've not used kibbles for traveling in well over 15 yrs. now. ciao

I used to go camping, and bring along some refridgerated foods(including meats) in the manner Heather speaks of. Everything stayed good for the 3-4 days I was there. Get her used to the commercial raw, or even with the chunks, etc. Pack it in a good cooler with some freezer gel packs, and even though it thaws, it will stay good.

Yep-I made a very long trip across country and fed raw the whole way. Please though-if you have to be in the car for extended periods, make sure you bring hand wipes, hand sanitizer and if your kids only eat chopped up food, pre-chop it or bring some good kitchen shears and stop at a rest area every 2-3 hours to get everyone's legs stretched/litterboxes changed and checked, food and water replenished.

Some markets sell dry ice if you need things to stay frozen for a bit longer, just use caution handling dry ice (don't flash freeze your skin I'd wrap it in paper and put it in a sealed container with your meats.
