Hi all,
Some of you know me, some of you don't, but I thought I'd properly sign up and reintroduce myself in case. My name is Erinn and I'm mama to 6 fuzzies: Diesel-Electric (champagne DMK,) Tank (DEW Marshall's,) NB's War Paint Got Smudged (BRM, privately bred,) NB's Under the Radar (BRM, Smudge's littermate,) and two newer rescues, Schooner (DEW Marshall's,) and Mudflap (albino Marshall's.)
I've had a rough year with fuzzies, I lost my heart ferret in February, NB's Captain Morgan, just a week after losing my precious Pilot. And now we're battling something with Diesel, still trying to diagnose the problem for certain but it's looking like a kidney issue or lymphoma. He's going in for an ultrasound next week, and in the meantime I'm trying to find some alternative therapies to help him feel better.
Looking as Essiac if it is lymphoma. Any other suggestions would be extremely appreciated!
Thanks all!

Hello, I am sorry to hear the sad news of your losses You are in the right place for wellness information for sure, (which you allready know if some here know you already) and soon those more experienced than I will offer some sugggestions while you work with your vet on that diagnosis. What are you seeing with Essiac that suggests lymphoma? What type of diet are they currently on, and what steps have you taken so far, such as dietary supplements?

erinn, i lost duncan to kidney issue - that presented as an ulcer, so, wasn't id'd until necropsy
most of the dmk's have been lost to kidney issues - so, that's the more likely cause of the current problem you're having with diesel, unless you have found lumps somewhere, that is.
with dunc, he was otherwise healthy - only other thing found was that he had ectopic adrenal growths on the vena cava - and i already knew both adrenals were involved, so, that find didn't surprise me too, too much.

hi errin. i lost a ferret to renal failure at 1.5 years of age. signs were smelly "ammonia" breath, ulcers in his mouth. clear urine. he slept alot too. what did the blood tests show? how old is he? are his teeth and gums clean? i hope that it is not kidney failure! fingers and paws crossed for you! <3

Hey Erinn, It's good to see you back. I'm so sorry about the loss of your wee ones. How heartbreaking. I've lost a couple to renal failure....Loki Bears being the most recent. You can try milk thistle (I used a homeopathic concoction). It seemed to help. Making sure that he always had plenty of water and watching his output was a key factor. Feeding raw helped him a lot too. Good luck, I will light a healing candle for your wee Deisel. I don't know which I would rather see, kidney or lymphoma , neither is a good prognosis ciao
