With Salem - I haven't dealt with a ferret with lymphoma, but I would not be surprised if the poos are a result of the illness/medication. As long as she's hydrated, rested and seems comfortable I'd call it even!
Gwen's really picked up! That's so great that she's eating most of it on her own. Organs can be tricky to get them to eat, so as long as there's a method that *works*, then there's no major problem with the soup (only thing I'd see as a concern is if there's kibble in it).
Just to be explicit, so far what meats *does* Gwen eat?

Well, she's had the bad poos before ever going on pred, it was part of what tipped me off that she was sick in the first place. But she is eating great now, and she isn't dehydrated. And nah, no kibbles, we don't do kibbles here. Well it would be that way if I could afford to put my dogs and cats on it too. lol. Let's see, things Gwen eats... anything chicken (except backs, no on likes backs), quail, rabbit, cgh, gizzards, hearts, and liver and kidneys pureed. I just want to get her on pork, goat, and beef and she'll be good to go. Pen's doing good too! When the big kids have chicken, she gets some too, and we skip the soups. And she may have ate some cgh, but I'm not sure. I'm starting to introduce new meats in her soups, which she gets whenever they aren't eating chicken.

Sounds great! (also, part of the poo situation for Salem could be that the lack of bone is making her bad poos from illness a little looser, as well [adding to the issue]).

Well, Salem's poos have been looking a little better lately. Still loose, but not green and liquid like they have been. Pen's been a good girl too! She was eating heart the other day with the big kids! And I tried out some tiny beef chunks in her soup last night which she ate just fine. But the darn girl, she keeps stashing every single jingly ball we have inside the feeding den! Every day there will be around 8 of them in there. So I have to wash them all the time! Grrr. Silly silly Penny. She cracks me up.

It's amazing what ferts find as fun but that's great that she's accepting the changes to the diet - good signs all around! Give little miss Salem a hug from me - I'm glad she's doing better!

It's been a hectic weekend here, so I apologize for the delay! They've been scheduling me to work earlier in the mornings, so the past couple of days my hubby's been taking over ferret feeding duties. So I don't really have that much of an update foodwise! Tonight I'm going to try Penny on some pureed kidney. It seems like the only thing that's gotten better with Salem since we put her on pred is her appetite. Her poos are off and on, she sleeps all the time... Friday I've got another vet appointment. I'm going to talk to her about putting Salem on depo medrol (it's kinda like injectable prednisolone, I think). I just hope and pray that things get better, I want her to have a good quality of life before she goes to the bridge!

Remember, too, that on pred animals get overheated very quickly and are more sensitive to temp. changes, so it might help to adjust therm. settings to a bit cooler, even. That might perk her up (or let them have a tub of ice cubes or cool water to explore). That goes for water intake - in my experience, that goes through the roof, so making sure she has access to that is important, too (and forgive me if I repeat anything you already know, no offense meant!) Let me know how Pen does on the kidney

I actually did not know that ferrets can get more easily overheated on pred! Lately our central AC has been on the fritz, so while we're waiting for the landlord to fix it, I've got a window unit running in their room. I did let her and the others out to play in the rest of the apartment for a bit today(it was 80 in here), but not too long. It didn't take Salem long to return to the cage to sleep anyhow. And Penny did wonderfully with the kidney! And she was also nomming some cgh today!

Things are going about the same here, but Salem has her recheck today. Hoping the vet will have some sort of solution for this ongoing diarrhea.

YAY PENNY!
That's good that she's going back in - the poos might be from the illness itself or from the medicine. If it's chronic, I don't see where they couldn't give you something (or you could give her a bit more pumpkin/squash in her soup and that should firm her poos up and soothe any tummy issues. Generally, you increase until the poos firm, but aren't orange).

Salem's vet visit went great, she's gained weight and the vet noted she was more active than the last visit. Dr. Gadd sent us home with some Kaopectate for her poos. Tried to give her some last night and it was just awful, half of the meds ended up on me and she peed on me. She did the same thing with pred(except she pooped on me), which is why I had to mix it with her last spoon full of soupies now. I think I'm just going to have to attempt this naturally, and give her pumpkin with all her food. She clearly doesn't like meds, and I don't want to push it on her more than I have to. At least she is taking the pred.

Bomber is at the vet for surgery to have a dead canine removed. He also pooped blood on me while I was holding him talking to the vet. At least he is at the best place right now for that to happen. Vet said the blood might just be from stress, but I am still kinda freaking out and could use some prayers/good thoughts right now. Anyways, once I've got him back, should I be feeding him soups until the gum heals up? Or do you think he will still be able to handle his normal meat and bone with only one canine?

Bomber is out of surgery and did great! I'm so relieved. Going to pick him up shortly.

I'm so sorry - my internet was down (storms!)
When my first male went in for a ~teeth cleaning~ (plaque build up while on kibble for 2 years), I fed him ground (bone in) food for a day or so, just because his poor mouth was sore. I would play it by how he acts, but I wouldn't feed soup, just meat chunks with eggshell or bone powder, if you think soft is what he needs right now.

That's funny about the kaopectate. I've had one ferret absolutely LOVE the stuff, and Miss Pix is familiar with it (had ulcers/IBD), along with famotidine. I generally stay away from all that, too, now, just because natural (in my case) works better for me and my guys.
