Get to know your local butcher. They throw out whole animal carcess and off cuts; see if you can get your hands on them.

haha thats funny sherry, i had no idea it smelt so bad, i'll give the tripe a miss then! The stuff in the shop is the bleached stuff anyway! Thanks for the link too, i don't know why its so difficult to get things like turkey necks over here in the UK. I went to my local butchers yesterday and he charges quite a lot for the off cuts and waste!!! He said a lot of people buy it for dog food.
I will keep on with my search though and ill check out those links.

Is there a town you go to nearby? Maybe talk to the butcher there instead. If it's a trip you only make once a month or so, then you could stock up.

I found neck of lamb today at the butchers, is the bone in the middle OK for them to eat? its mainly bone marrow because its kind of cut in diagonal slices.... if that makes any sense! the meat's quite fatty which i thought was good.

Definitely it's good for them Even if they can't actually chew the bone(and some might, some might not), he can eat the meat from it, the marrow, and get the mental stimulation just from chewing away at it.

I'm all excited... I found some frozen rabbit mince at my local pet shop!! its basically raw minced rabbit that's been frozen into a block... I checked the ingredient list and there's no nasty additives or preservatives etc.
they also do turkey, beef, lamb etc...
I'm wondering if this is the same as the freeze dried stuff you guys talk about a lot?

Freeze dried are small compacted patties that are completely dehydrated (no moisture). What you have sounds like a commercial grind

Hi try pets at home they do ground rabbit lamb chicken beef and they also do 2kg bags of chicken wings, chicken hearts, poulty necks, beef chunks ox heart rough ground beef ( larger grind ) and a few more simply potion these into portion sizes and save money ! and if you have a local pet store he maybe willing to order it from the company for you in say bulk buy lots of ten assorted bags and this will be even cheaper ( because pets at home are pretty pricey ) but it will mean your fuzzy is fed for a quite a few months lol also check out for cheap day old chicks too usually its cheaper to buy them by the box ( 250 for 12 pounds ) because I know a lot of stores charge upwards of 10-15p EACH you do realise owning ferrets = a new freezer needed especially for them dont you lol ( I have four freezers lol ) take care bye for now Bev aka crazy lady

One good thing about the commercial grinds like you have found is that they normally have the bones/organs ground up in there So you get some "bone in" meals, as well as a bit more variety.

"May contain"? I think if I were you, I'd be writing to the company to find out if maybe some DO have it, and some DON'T! What I read was the bone content can vary from 4g per package to 100g per package? I hate to say it, but if they don't put pretty much the whole animal in there, bones and all, I'd simply consider it a muscle meat meal, albeit adding some variety to the diet.

Yep! Lung is just fine other organs besides liver should make up 5% of the diet
