Could one of the bone in meals be chicken feet? They don't have much meat/muscle on them, like chicken wings do, so I was unsure. Also, I know they're mostly cartilage, so I don't know if that counts towards their bone ratio.
What about pigs feet and tails? Are they too hard to eat?

I do know chicken's feet are good for them, simply because of the cartiladge. As for replacing bone in, I don't know that I'd do it more than once a week. And yes, they can and do eat pork tails. The bones should be okay for them. The feet would be too hard, though. They can, however, chew the bone off of them.

Okay, so no more than 1 meal of chicken feet a week.
So pig tails count towards bone in, right?

Chicken feet are great, there is also an anti-arthritic that is naturally in them as well....the actual name escapes me (getting old) anyway. Yes, as Sherrylynne said, not much more than once a week. They can eat them entirely. I've had a couple of fuzzes who treated them like candy. Lady "B" would rip Attila's ears off for them. Pig's feet...I've heard of some who use them, but for the most part I know some dogs who can't eat them the bone in them is so hard. Pig tails go for it. My guys love pork spines and can handle the smaller part of the spine, closest to the tail, so why not tails. ciao

You guys buy this stuff at your grocery store? I have never seen chicken feet or pig tails for sale at mine. Ox tails, and pig feet yes.

My boys love them! I got some from the raw pet food supplier, but last weekend I found the chicken feet for .40 a lb at a chinese market.... just wish it was so far away.

I give all my fur babies chicken feet, it's got a good bit of glucosomine and condrotion (sp?) which is great for the joints. We use them as treats

How many do you give per ferret?

I'd think it would depend on how much they'll actually eat. If I remember correctly, they aren't all that small, so I'd be surprised if they eat more than 1-2 each

I bought chicken feet for my brats from save a lot once. They loved them and i want to get more but it isnt nearby. I don't think they make a good meal per say but they are good treats. They ranged in size too, some pretty small others rather large from full grown hens. My girls would eat half to a whole one and the boys eat a whole to a whole and a half.

Thanks for everyones input. I'll probably use them once every week or so as a good treat and for some bone and jaw action. I'm excited to try the pig tails as well :-)
