Ok so I am considering feeding my ferts some commercial raw diet. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought ferrets are not supposed to eat fruit or veggies. Almost all the commercial raw diets I have found have fruit and veggies in them. Is this ok to feed them? I have found one that offers raw meat without these items. It is called Bravo. Does anybody know anything about this company? So very confused!

Not a problem- and that's why we're here When looking for a commercial raw, make sure the fruit/veggie content is no higher than 5% at the most. If they don't list it on the package, there is a good chance it's higher than that. Bravo, from what I understand, is a good one. Just took a look. The "basic" and the "specialty" formulas are not complete meals. The others are.

Also look for cat commercial raw diets vs dog ones. I've found the ones designed for cats are more appropriate for ferrets. Less veg/fruit, more meat, bones, extra taurine etc. Good luck in your search and if you have any specific questions about a brand just ask

I use Bravo, and I think my ferrets are doing great. I do supplement with other stuff, but I think the veggie content is like if they ate animals and there would be the stomach contents of their prey. So I think even in the wild they would get a small amount of veg/fruit.

Thanks to all of you for the info! It's been very helpful. I have signed up for a mentor and can't wait to start my ferts on a raw diet.

Actually, most carnivores don't eat the stomach contents of their prey. They rip it open and shake the stomach out before consuming it. The main reason we give them pumpkin, etc. is to replace non digestibles like fur

I used both Primal raw medallions for cats and Nature's Variety raw medallions cats for my ferrets and they did very well on both. I found my pet store was too inconsistent with keeping it stocked, so I don't feed those anymore but both are certainly products worth trying.

Stella % chewys canine freeze dried formulas are less than 5% plant/ veg. Stella & chewys feline formula is 99%+ meat, bones and organs.
