Does anyone know the overall percentage? I was reading somewhere that 38% of a young turkey is made up of bones.
I was wondering because another raw feeder was saying cats only need 5% of bone content and that just seemed wrong to me...

Im on my phone so I cannot link it, but there is a sticky at the top of the whole prey board that's called Nutritional composition of whole prey. There is will say I think the percentage of bone in a mouse/rat. I'm going to check it now and post in a minute

Okay so it actually says the percentage of calcium, which in an adult mouse is ~3%.
I believe whole prey mice are about 10-15% bone.
Ferrets have high calcium needs, higher than cats.

Some cats do well with the same diet as a ferret, others...not so much! I found that the higher bone content of the ferret's diet constipated my cats.

I was just thinking in terms of cats eating 7-10 mice/rodents a day if they were feral. I'm sorry this isn't entirely ferret-related but cats and ferrets... who can tell the difference, right?

You also have to remember, feral cats don't just eat rodents. They also get birds, insects, lizards, etc. But yeah, they are very similar, and some cats even seem to think they are ferrets ;D Cute picture ;D
