So I was feeling pretty confidant that Koda has juvenile adrenal. He was showing classic signs, and when the Lupron wore off he would get even more aggressive. Well, it is about time for his next shot - a little overdue actually. And he has shown NO signs of the usual between-shots aggression. No weight loss, no mounting, no extra itching, nadda. He had about 4 Lupron shots in the last months. After EVERY one of these he showed increased aggression, usually starting around week 3 - 3.5 and increasing as it wore off until a few days after the next shot. I have not had the chance to ask my vet about this yet, but... Thoughts? I still intend to get him the Des implant (and hopefully Kenai too if I can afford it) when it comes in (if it ever comes in ) but I am not sure if I should take him in for another Lupron shot considering he is behaving completely normally. We did not do an adrenal panel and right now I cannot afford it. Is it possible that he was just having an extra long (5 months?!), extra naughty breeding season? Or that his neutering was incomplete? (he shows no signs of having his testicles lol and he had a barium X-Ray for his blockage - not sure if it would have shown up there or not...) I thought he had adrenal for sure, but now I am a little confused and uncertain... What do you guys think?

you must continue with the meds - regardless of whether symptoms reappear or not!
with lupron, it comes in 30 day and 90 day depots - sounds like you were doing the 90 day as a 120 day. stay with 90 day dosing and symptoms shouldn't ever reappear. if they do, then, the dose needs to be increased.

That has happened with my Adrenal ferrets he was on lupon & I couldnt get him in for an injection for awhile bc I was studying for the bar exam. But for sure he did have fairly large tumors on both glands which the vet was able to see on an ultrasound (usually those tumors are tiny & you can't see them on ultrasound). Even with lupron & Melatonin he had certain times of the year where he was more aggressive. So, I would keep doing the lupron.

Are you doing monthly shots or what? We started Pip on them for the same reasons, humping and whatnot and his signs completely disappeared on lupron for about a year, but we never went more than a week or so off schedule too. It may be that he needed a larger dose if it's wearing off too soon or he was just extra hormonal with the season and lupron wasn't keeping up and now it is?

Ummmm.... We are doing shots every 30 days. He only started showing symptoms as the shots would wear off towards the very end, and more severely when I was late. Now the shot has worn off (he is due for shot 5) but he is showing no symptoms. That's very good to know miamyferret, thanks. *sigh* lol I was beginning to feel a little hopeful that perhaps he just had extra bad spring fever after all. Oh well. It is Koda after all - I should know better. Thanks guys.

I'm inclined to agree with the rest of the posts Katt, sorry I also found when Odin was intact, July seemed to be the time that he was starting to wind down in his season. He was still very much on the "hunt" but it wasn't so pressing and he wasn't so belligerent either. That may well be the same with Koda. Perhaps, the sexual part of the adrenal isn't so hard and waxes and wanes with the season I noticed that Captain Jack was on the prowl the other day, I'm so hoping that I get those des implants soon. All 3 are sleeping more, they're still eating but they're not playing as much and Jack is starting to get amorous again ciao
