Hi,
I got home from work today and the ferret cage was completed covered in vomit. I'm pretty sure it was Miya as she is looking very drowsy and I have done the scruff test and the skin is tenting.
I have just been trying them on ziwipeak food so she could be reacting to that.
What can I do to keep her hydrated? I have added some ferretone to the water and i have an air cooler in the room to cool it down a bit.

if you have a syringe give her some water with that. if you have some of her old food, i'd stick to that, if she's reacting to the new food.

I'd definitely be syringing her some water and fluids. Can you get her into a vet soon?

I would use the syringe and offer her water frequently, if she has anymore vomitting/loose stools I would consider getting her to a vet for some subq fluids. You could also get some childrens pedialyte and try to get some of that down her. When they are dehydrated their electrolytes are also out of balance and that can be dangerous. I would also not give her anymore of the new food for right now.

Give her some soups as well. You need to get fluids into her that she won't fight. If she be ones too dehydrated, the. She'll be nauseated and not want to take anything at all. That's when you need to have the vet start sub q fluids. And I'd not give her the ziwipeak again just in case.

Do you have any plain baby food, or some other gentle food that she likes?

I've just come back from the vets after finding a big piece of rubber in her poo. The vet couldn't feel anything else in her tummy so we think that's all she ate. Ive hunted round the house and it turns out it was one of the little rubber feet from the bottom of our broadband router. The other 3 are still there so that's a relief. I'd never even thought about the bottom of the router being dangerous but I have now pulled all the rubber feet off and thrown them away.
Miya seems to have perked up a bit. The vet gave her an injection to help with heartburn from being sick a lot and she's going in for another check-up in the morning.

Wow, that's scary! Glad you got her in and that she passed the rubber! It's crazy the places these guys can find stuff to eat. I actually noticed that the ferret nation exit ramps have these little rubber stoppers on the top of the ladder where it hangs off the cage so I removed those right away when I first got it, just in case. Never would've thought to check on the bottom of a router though!
Glad she's doing better!

Thanks.
She just seems to want to sleep at the moment which is worrying me although I think I'm just being paranoid. I'd want to sleep if I'd just been through that! I'm checking on her constantly and waking her up every hour or so to make her drink some water.
Fingers crossed she's back to her old happy self soon.

Yes, I would be a bit paranoid too. What a terrifying experience. Hopefully, everything is doing well now, and your little one is just sleeping it off. She should be herself in a couple of days. A healing candle is lit, may she be up and herself again soon ciao

poor baby I am pleased its out of her system though all you can do now is keep her hydrated ( try a little bland soup too maybe chicken ) she wont feel much like eating as her tummy will be sore from all that heaving so sleep is not a bad thing as long as you keep her hydrated give her a kiss from me and tell her bad baby rubber is nasty lol take care bye for now Bev aka crazy lady
