Niffler's cancer diagnosis and CBD oil help

About 2 months ago, I noticed a small growth on the underside of Niffler's belly. It started off as a pea-sized lump, and it has now doubled in size. Almost the diameter of a half-dollar coin (if anyone remembers what that is). During this past month we've had the mass tested, and the results have come back as Squamous cell cancer. He's not a good candidate for surgery due to his slow response to oxygen from a "twilight" sedation during our last vet visit. He is also 6 years old and I'm afraid of causing more stress and harm to him. My vet said it's also a type of cancer that may come back and be worse which would cause him more pain. I don't know how much longer Niffler has, but he still has a lively attitude, is alert and eats normally. He even continues to climb the cage to get to his food even though his doors are wide open lol He urinates and poos regularly too. I just want to make his possible last few months comfortable and stress free. 

I want to do a natural remedy using CBD oil to help with any discomfort and for his appetite. I know it can be used for cats and dogs, and I recently found a link that says it can be used for small pets as well. I'll put the link below for further admin observation. The mass isn't causing any severe pain, but it is slightly tender due to it's size under Niffler's genitalia. Would it be alright to use CBD for this purpose? My vet said it wouldn't hurt, but he is unsure of any solid guidance because it hasn't been medically proven for ferrets. 

Please, if anyone has any experience with this, I would greatly appreciate the help. I need more answers about CBD oil and anything else I can do for my little man. As I stated before, he has no loss of life and continues to be his sweet self. Thank you for reading this far and thank you for any and all suggestions.

Reishi mushrooms can help slow the growth of tumors as well. My husband uses CBD oil for anxiety and as a sleep aid, so I’m familiar with it, but I don’t know the dosage for ferrets and have not used it on any pet yet. This article is just selling you their product, it doesn’t mention any studies by name to refer to, and it repeatedly lumps ferrets in with rodents and lagomorphs, which have tremendously different ways of chemically breaking down medications. A ferret is much more like a cat, breakdown of medication wise.

In a cat study, doses escalating by day went up to 30.5mg CBD oil/kg of body weight without significant adverse effect. You should always start with a low dose and work up from there. I’d say try no more than 1.5 mg/kg, the lowest dose that worked to relieve osteoarthritis in dogs, and increase daily slowly until effect is seen in pain relief.

That's very interesting! I didn't know ferrets could eat mushrooms. Is there a specific way to prepare them for him to eat? I'll do more research on different pet approved CBD brands and click the link you sent. Thank you so much for the advice!

Most of the time when feeding reishie mushrooms people choose to buy powdered supplement and mix it into either wet food or a wet treat, like salmon oil or heavy whipping cream, in a little cup for them to lick up. Sometimes you can find bags of sliced dried mushrooms, and if the ferret likes the taste, it can be eaten as a crunchy treat by itself.
