NOT a ferret emergency! However I was wondering what everyone’s opinions on pet insurance for their ferrets are? One already has an adrenal and insulinoma diagnosis, so I know it would not cover his implant. Nationwide said they do cover medications and exams so that would help? I also have another dude who is just needing vaccines and exams, no pre existing health conditions thankfully.

IMO, as a former rescuer of way too many, and former owner of several, (we're down to only two now), it was more cost-effective to put cash into a savings account each month toward annual exams and emergencies than to pay what Nationwide (the only US carrier for ferrets) wanted for each ferret. My vet has reasonable costs, and I have access to savings and credit, so for someone with only a couple of ferrets, YMMV. The only way to find out is to call them for a quote and go over any potential policies carefully to see what they really cover.

My vets take care care credit.

Care credit is interest free credit for 6 months. The only place to get ferret insurance is Nationwide.
