Last night, we lost Lilly(belle). She was showing signs of insulinoma, and it was worse last night. I gave some pred, a little honey and some Uncle Jim’s, but she never really perked up much. I had her scheduled to see the vet this morning, but when I checked on her at 3 AM she was gone, with Bobo still keeping her warm. She never had any medical issues until this, and it came on rather suddenly. She was 4 ½. Lilly was Ferret #29. She is survived by Bobo, who will likely be my last, depending on how he handles her departure. They loved wrestling, even tho Bobo is twice her size, and playing Hide and Seek together. She was tiny, never quite reaching 1.5 lb. She liked her cuddles. As much as it hurts to lose her, at least it was quick and painless. Good-bye for now, Miss Lilly. See you on the other side of the Bridge, with the rest of our furry friends. Rest in peace Lily. I’m surprised, as I’m sure you were too. Poor you, and poor Bobo. Does he get along with the cats?

2 L's, Lilly. Bob gets on with the kats. They all either play with him or at least don't bother him. I thought Bobo would be devastated. often when he went in the cage without Lilly, he would raise heck until she was in there with him. he hasn't scratched the cage floor or chewed the bars or shown any sign of grief, just looking for some extra love and treats. We'll see. I'd really rather not have to get him new buddies, but there are a pair of males and a pair of females on craigslist within 15 miles of me... I still got 6 kats, one of which cost me a $500 vet bill last month for a bellyache and diarrhea, but at least I know he's clear of anything else. He probably just bit into a shrew or something.

Whoop, sorry for the misspelling. I think if he’s weathering it fine he should be ok with you and all the cats’ company, I know you want off their short lifespan rollercoaster already.

I'm so sorry... 🥺 I share your pain. I don't know how you still keep it together after losing so many fur babies 💔 you are so strong. I lost my 8 year old cat on August 3rd also suddenly in a few hours, and I haven't been able to write about her here on the forum yet (I don't know how to attach photos either, I think I'll have to use the pc).
Rest in peace Lilly.

It never gets easier. One of the reasons why I've always chose ferrets over dogs or cats is despite them living half as long, they live their lives to the fullest every day. In the 25 years of ferretry I've had lost 9 ferrets. Most of which died from adrenal complications and insulinoma. I remember every one of them and the memories we shared. I think I'm in the same boat as you that Aron and Sean will be my last ones. It's not because I couldn't handle the loss, but because I've been developing allergies towards them, the constant cleaning with them being free roam and the rising cost of raw meat (I pay more for their groceries than mine).
Your ferts are fortunate to have such a good father, and take solace that you have given them the best quality of life one could ever ask for.

Oh I'm so sorry to read this sad new unclejoe. My condolences for your loss. Lilly was so cute. I'm glad she didn't suffer either. Good to hear that Bobo carried on ok without her. At least he has the cats to bother. 4 1/2 years is rather young in my opinion. Rest in peace sweet little Lilly.

It just struck me that if not for Jingles the Wonder Kat, I would not have any ferrets now. Crazy but true. A couple years ago, Bobo escaped and was missing for 3 days. I walked around calling him and put flyers out. I live between a hay field and woods. One night, around 10 PM, I opened the door to call Bobo and Jingles ran out. I called to Mr. Jingles, “Go find Bobo and bring him home. Do something to earn your keep.” 10 minutes later, I heard Jingles scratching at the door to come back in. 2 minutes after I let him in, I heard more scratching, and dang it, there was Bobo at the door. Bobo had to climb 13 stairs to get to the front door. He MUST have followed Jingles home. I absolutlely lost it, I was so happy and amazed. Bobo ate so much I thought he would bust. Mr. Jingles is my hero. Mr. Magnificent. Dingles. Ding ding. Magnifikat. IMG_4111 by unclejoe1158, on Flickr

IMG_4778 by unclejoe1158, on Flickr IMG_4779 by unclejoe1158, on Flickr 3 buried here, 6 buried at one Florida home, 4 at another, 4 runaways, and Bobo remains with us. I check craigslist for fuzzies occasionally. I could have had a couple males, but the reply went to spam and I didn't send my phone # If it happens it happens
