Hello my name is Sander and I would like to have my first ferret. I already know quite a bit about them because my best friend had one that I got to meet and I've been bombarding him with my question for months 😂. But what I'm here to ask is where can I buy a Marshall ferret in Canada, that is in what stores, maybe Petsmart? In Canada we don't have Petco. I also want to know at what price they sell them here. Specifically, I live in Montreal (we don't have Petland in Quebec or Ontario, but we have Petsmart in Ontario) and if actually there isn't anywhere to buy them here and you know of somewhere in Ontario, like Ottawa, I can drive there. Or if you know a responsible breeder for this area or in Ontario tell me please, I really prefer that option, but I was looking on internet and I didn't find any in Canada. Thanks  |

Petsmart does not sell ferrets, I'm sorry. The only reputable breeder in Canada I'm aware of is Misty Mountain Ferrets by Heather Downie in Toronto.

It's hard to find Marshall ferrets in the US at the moment. Apparently, Marshall's had a run of distemper at the farm just as the covid pandemic was ending. I've seen posts that MF ferrets were going for nearly US$400.

I went onto the Marshall Ferrets website and I found this. You may want to try calling and see if they have any before driving there. Sometimes reptile stores have the small exotic pets too. Not sure how much they will cost though. I heard of ferrets going for $400 in Alberta too.

I asked those who are looking to rehom their ferrets on kijiji where they bought them and got three stores, I went to check two of them that were close to each other and 30 minutes from where I live, and indeed they sell Marshall, at 350CAD before taxes, not bad I think. So if in the time I'm going to wait before I get the ferret I don't get to talk to Heather Downie I'll buy it at one of those stores. Thank you all very much for your answers 😊. |

In case someone has the same question as me, the stores are Centre d'animaux Nature, Animalerie De St-Hyacinthe and Animalerie la Fine Griffe (in this one the price is 375 before taxes).

Sometimes smaller zoos will sell ferrets. I know of a zoo in Ontario that sells ferrets. My sister bought one there for $100. Not sure if that price is still the same because that was a few years ago now. Itr wasn't a Marshall ferret either and still intact. Glad you were able to find something closer. |
