Hello again. My 3-4 year old ferret Dali has adrenal, we started the Des implant in November I think. Ever since i've noticed he seems bloated but he's always been very beefy. I think a month or 2 ago he also seemed to be struggling to potty I mentioned it on here, but it seemed to get better figured I was being paranoid plus we were in a new environment as I was visiting a friend and I didn't investigate further after the improvement.
Fast forward to this passing Monday I noticed him whimpering when going to the bathroom, and followed by frank blood in his poop, and also frequent attempts. I got him to the vet the next day, did a fecal test and it came up clear. The vet did feel a tumor though and believes that's causing the struggling to poop/pee. Typically I'd pass on surgery but that seems like the best option in this case but that can't happen till early May.
The vet prescribed metronidazole and Pepto-Bismol, I didn't have any Pepto on hand so I haven't given him any yet but when researching I saw here that Pepto wasn't safe for animals? But the thread was from a while ago so i'm wondering if that's still true? Should I follow vets orders or skip the Pepto? Maybe any thoughts or advice in general if applicable.

The brand name Pepto Bismol has added salicylates which are concerning. I found Walgreen's Soothe generic to be sugar-free and is only Bismuth Subsalicylate, which is much safer and kills the Helicobacter.

I'm surprised your vet didn't prescribe sucralfate instead of pepto It's been nigh impossible to get lately due to shortages. Last time we needed it, our vet had to try making a suspension out of the tablets, which wasn't very easy.
