My ferret high-pitched squeaks a lot when playing with my roommate’s cat who’s much bigger and pretty rough, but if I pull my ferret off she goes straight back to him after. Could she just be a squeaky ferret? She only does it when it’s very rough play. Is she hurting?

Hello and welcome to the forum. Ferrets make a number of sounds and I had one dude that made all of them. If yours goes right back to playing, I would say the noise is because of excitement and/or fun. I've had 30 ferrets and the only other time I heard that squealing was because of extreme distress. I had a couple that got themselves caught in parts of the cage or furniture, and squealed, but it doesn't sound like that's your case/ The rule for fighting/playing is no blood, no poop, no foul, but be careful. Accidents happen and I had to re-home a kat because the rough play was getting scary. I wouldn't let your fert and the kat play unsupervised, and if you get concerned, remove the fert from the action.
