Hi everyone. Awaiting approval but in the meantime I have a couple of questions.
I live rural but will get her to my nearest vet if need.
I have bred ferrets for a few years but I'm stumped on this. I am in no way a pro at this.
Nia is 32 days pregnant and her sister is 28 days. They've been inseparable but was going to separate them in a couple of days. I've always separated earlier but these 2 freak out too much when they're not together. This is their first pregnancies and didn't want to stress them out. Tonight I noticed Nuri was licking Nia's privates and nipples. I separated them and checked Nia over. She had a clear mucous string about an inch long. Is this normal roughly 10 days before due? Ive only ever noticed this 24/48 hours before birth. She keeps cleaning herself and licking her belly. She is rather large too. Do you think she's miscarrying or is this normal? She's still eating, drinking and playing. No nesting yet. Dates are correct. I've triple checked.
Thankyou.

Are you certain about the date she was impregnated? If so, I think this is something I'd talk to my vet about. Being born too early will not bode well for the kits.

She went in on my daughter's birthday. The vet in my area doesn't specialise in ferrets but I'll travel the 4 hours to one who does if need be. She is settled and hasn't had anymore discharge. My question is about if it was normal to see it so early like it is in other animals.

Just updating!
She's not had the babies so I guess it was normal! I did take her to the vet hours away, they said she was fine, babies were wriggling around and there was no discoloration to the discharge so they were happy to leave it at that.
