Fed him raw chicken liver for the first time tonight (he’s been taking freeze dried pieces as treats well) and he ate a whole liver, had to cut it up first though. He was confused by it in one whole unit and just licked the outside.

Here’s one, he sleeps out in the open sprawled on his back: Edit: got an uninterrupted shot when he didn’t wake up when I opened the door. Edit #2: Oh.. thanks to this pic I found the missing mouse intestine from this morning, haha.

Lots of firsts, he learned how to climb the stairs (up, but not down yet), ate an egg (loved it), had a bath to remove the kibble smell from his coat (surprisingly didn’t mind it too much), and I tried feeding him ground turkey. I surrounded it with liver and left it with him overnight and he decided he wouldn’t touch either one, he was so put off by the ground turkey. Oh well, I’ll try again. I also bought some ground beef to try and chicken wings, but they turned out to be HUGE, double the size I’m used to seeing at restaurants, I don’t know if he’ll be able to crunch through them. If not humans will eat the rest of them so no biggie. Looking for hearts and gizzards, grocery store sometimes has gizzards but hearts I have to go to the Amish butcher for and special order. My grocery store needs me to order 10 pounds at once to get them in and they would take up my whole freezer.

Welcome home Churchill!!! What a cute little boy. He looks just like my sister's ferret with the white mittens and white bib on his chest. That's amazing that he's eating the mice already!!

Tossed him a (partially frozen because I forgot to take it out of the freezer this morning) chicken wing and he went straight for it! Video: m.imgur.com/gallery/hwopPRK I thought starting with the ground meat would be easier but he’s still really put off by it, wish I had started with harder stuff a little sooner. Also, he’s started eating mouse intestines and they make his poop stink. Wish he was still leaving them behind. I would say at least he’s dosing himself with good gut bacteria but these frozen mice I’ve been feeding him since he ate all the living males I had have been irradiated, so I think their gut bacteria is long dead. Unless it only kills bacteria on the outside of the mouse? They say they do it to kill salmonella and make them safer to handle. Here’s another video, just rolling around in front of the fan: imgur.com/gallery/EDWSomn

as he loses weight and gets back in shape, he'll be a lot like Scamp. Trouble. He has fun just sitting by the fan!

This is what he left behind, most of the humerus and the ulna. Pretty good! Took him a day and a few hours to get through it. So two bone-in meals and a muscle meal. I might chop the humerus and surrounding meat off future wings and reserve it for humans and just give him the last two segments, not sure. I was unable to get hearts at the Amish, they said they get them in Thursdays, so going back to mostly mice for now to keep the taurine content of his diet up.

Got my hearts and he ate four in a meal, and I’m feeding 2-3 meals a day depending on when I get home from work. He eats so much! So now he’s eating a combo of chicken frankenprey and whole mice. I offered him ground beef last week and he wouldn’t touch it, I’ve yet to get him to eat any ground meat that wasn’t just 10% meat 90% kibble mush, and he only ate a few bitefuls of that a day. Just for fun I gave him a chunk of pork chop today from my own meal prep and he ate that right up despite refusing ground pork before. It’s something about ground meat he doesn’t like.

I pinched off small pieces and offered it to my ferret the first time I gave hime ground beef. It started off like a treat and then slowly gave hime more. Maybe try that? Or put salmon oil on it?

Tried rabbit yesterday and he liked it, the local grocer sometimes has them. Gave him a front leg and he ate all but the club on the humerus around the shoulder area. Don’t know how he’ll fare with the back legs and spine, which are harder. Ribs are springy so he should be able to eat those. We’ll see!
